Building a Dynamic eCommerce Team

Bryan Eisenberg and I had a chat last week regarding building an eCommerce team, take a look we would love to have your comments.

In the end one of the themes that seemed to resonate is that it is about the people and not the positions. Great people make great businesses so you shouldn't be afraid of bringing people onto your team even if you don't have a matching position at the time.

The other side of this is that you need to always be looking and seeing who is on the market, looking to make a change or a star that can help take your business to the next level. Talent is the base of any successful business and this is just as important in our industry as any other.

Great people is always the first you want to look for. But in this fast pace environment of the Internet, you need somebody that is willing to keep up to date, who has a good sense on current trends and techniques for improving metrics.

Because the online environment is constantly changing, you will need to make sure the person is highly adaptable, otherwise they may become obsolete a few years down the road.

After all, if you look at the eCommerce environment 10 years ago vs what it is now, it's worlds apart. Whether you're dealing with metrics, marketing, user experience, and even technology, almost everything has changed. So I would say a great person is someone who can ADAPT and LEARN no matter what the change is.

Would love to chat more about this topic with you!
