Blogger has been one of those quiet products for Google but has continued to grow and is still the #1 blogging platform in the world. Seems that in 2011 they are going to make some major changes to advance the product.
Should be interesting to watch as these roll out.

When Geocities died, I feared for the future of Blogger. I guess that was misplaced, because Google seems to love Blogger a lot.
Jonwilson, when you said "Google+ is just a meek contender to Facebook and other social networking giants," you're assuming that Google+ is merely a standalone social network. It's not. Google+ is a key within the Google ecosystem that ties all its services into a single bundle, ready for consumption by anyone who has a Google profile. Not too shabby eh?
I like the fact that Google bought Blogger. Good things came to that Blog site after that. I hope these major changes won't bring negative effects to bloggers and readers.

Even with a lot of contenders, Blogger still remains on top of its league. And knowing the Google psyche, they'll roll out changes every now and then to improve their service.
I wish Google would roll out an anti-spam plug-in as competent as Wordpress' Akismet in its future updates. So far, Akismet is blowing Blogger's spam detection out of the water.
I think blogger has similar software, the only problem is the owners don't usually implement them.
It is 2012 now and I think there will be another change to happen. Let's wait and see.
Rolling out future changes is essential in the survival of the blogger platform, which through the decades have lessened in its reach.
